February Baking Month

February is Bake Month for Family Fun. It is the perfect excuse to get the whole family in the kitchen together to create some delicious treats the whole family can enjoy whilst making some great memories. Baking is a fun and educational experience for your little ones, they learn all about measurements, following instructions and even some science as they watch ingredients turn into something yummy. It also brings you all together for some quality family time.

Why not try out this classic chocolate chip cookie recipe to get you started?

You will need:

  • 2 1/4 cups of plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips


  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tin with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until all combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  6. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
